Garbage
GARBAGE ! What do you
think when you hear that word? Smelly, dirty, germ, source of the disease, of
course all the negative things come to your mind when you hear that word.
Sometimes, I also think the same thing with you that the trash always be a problems.
Especially if the trash problem isn’t resolved, it's always be a big problems.
During this time in my
immediate environment, almost everyone I meet, they always blame and mock the
rubbish. They say if the house into a smelly, lots of flies, the environment
becomes very seedy, floods occur everywhere, eventually arise diarrhea and all
sorts of diseases because the garbage. Actually, if you think about it, why we
always blame the garbage? Is that handy? Garbage didn’t know anything. Instead,
we should blame ourselves because we never realize the consequences from what
we do. More precisely, blaming our wrong life.
Let's take the first
example from the little thing in our life everyday. At home, we put wet trash
and dry trash together in a container. When it should be wet trash and dry
trash must be differentiated for the placement. Wet trash in the home such as
banana peels, leftovers, vegetable trash and the like can be used as
fertilizer. While the dry trash such as paper, plastic bottles, glass bottles,
packs of noodles, and etc, can we sell and we can save the results or we can
give to those less fortunate, or we also can recycle be a good product. It's
would be more helpful.
The second example we
take from a lack of awareness of ourselves, when we pretend not aware but
actually we aware if we dispose carelessly of the trash. It's more dangerous.
If you're looking at the television, if there is the flood, the people always
blame the government. Whereas, flooding was caused by ourselves. For example,
when the weather was hot, and we thirsty, then we buy a soft drinks, after the
water is used up, we always throw it anywhere. Lucky when the throw fell to the
ground, if the trash fall above head of a person we could be in trouble. Then,
a bad habits when the remnants of household trash dumped into the river or into
the water canals. Not only drink cans, candy wrappers are small also can cause
flooding. Initially it was just one pack, then involuntarily one pack again,
one pack again, and unknowingly become a habit though one pack, and eventually
accumulate so much, so drains become clogged, the river will be very polluted,
finally spoil the beauty, new diseases emerge from the trash, and emerge other
environmental damage.
Whereas the government
has always urged, remind, tried to resuscitate, even some who go directly to
participate invites us to further enhance the self awareness about
environmental hygiene, especially from garbage. The government has also
provided funds for the benefit of sanitary facilities. But the citizen of
Indonesia always stubborn dan difficult to given advice although it was for his
own good. If given information about the importance of protecting our
environment from garbage, they only said yes, okay, well, of course. When they
arriving at home? they will not do at all. Difficult to persuade to their own
good! If the government is already tired of taking care of us, in the end, the
government will be blamed for the reasons the goverment isn't accountable to
the citizen.
I have often heard
that the people from my country have envy about the neighbor countries. The
location where our neighbor countries live more beautiful, clean, healthy, and
more convenient. The fact is the people in my country only comments and they
never give their self a question "why the neighbour country can be like
that?". We want to be like that? Absolutely not, we can't be like their.
Why? Because in my opinion, it's not only out from the mouth but it must from
ours heart and ours mind. If we've tried to keep it clean, make it look
beautiful, and create a comfort, but the environment and their country is still
much better, it means we must still a bit to repair it. But, when now there
isn’t effort at all and only can blame, why we would envy?! That there, we just
waste of our energy, increase of sin and can’t return any results.
All this again, again,
and again of course go back to our awareness. How many lives are lost simply
because a little thing called garbage? And the answer is? Yups, only ourself
who can answer.
